American Physical Therapy Association

The American Physical Therapy Association is an individual membership professional organization representing 100,000 member physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students of physical therapy. APTA’s federated model includes 51 state chapters and 18 special-interest sections, plus a PTA caucus and student assembly. Our association advocates for positive change, raises public awareness, advances evidence-based practice, supports the continued growth of our members, and develops the next generation. We engage and empower our members to be a leading voice in the health care industry, positive influencers of the physical therapy profession, and a strong collective force for improving the human experience.
